How To Tie Zip Ties When You Have No Friends

Zip ties. Everybody uses them. With work orders piling up, what exhibit isn't held together by zip ties, duct tape, and Gorilla glue? But sometimes your coworkers are busy, you intern didn't show up for work, your curator is all thumbs, and your wallabies are looking at you dumbly as you curse your luck in having to walk back and forth through the gate to mount a stupid piece of wire mesh so kids don't feed them garbage food. And also garbage. You know, #zookeeperproblems. But hey! You can do this yourself so screw them all!

We're going to bend the working end of the zip tie into a fish hook. Make sure the bends are so that the ridges are on the inside of the curve. You could do it the other way, but then you would be wrong and have wasted a zip tie.

The bends almost never interfere with the zipper action so don't worry about making too many. And if they do, remember you already wasted one zip tie, why not another?

There we go. Now you can needle this through whatever it is you're trying to mount and pull the ends by yourself. Like you're sewing the ugliest, most uncomfortable dress in the world.

Ta da! Do this a few more dozen times and it's time for your break.
